Welcome to the Hello Community Health Blog: A Space for Mental Wellness, Connection, and Care

Hi there, and welcome! I’m Dr. Olivetta Uradu—psychiatrist, mental health nerd, certified over-thinker, and the founder of Hello Community Health. I’m also the person behind the words you’ll read here.

I’m thrilled (and honestly a little nervous—hello perfectionism!) to introduce this blog as a space of both insight and invitation. Whether you’re brand-new to therapy, considering psychiatric care, or just scrolling while avoiding your to-do list, you’re in the right place.

We created Hello Community Health to offer something different—a virtual-first mental health clinic rooted in compassion, community, and clarity using the lived experiences from our community to guide our decisions. Our work isn’t just about diagnosing and prescribing. It’s about holding space for your full story. We know that mental health isn’t just personal—it’s political, cultural, historical, and deeply human.

This blog is an extension of that mission. A place where you can:

  • Learn how therapy works.

  • Get insights on topics like burnout, anxiety, trauma, and healing.

  • Explore the intersections of identity, culture, medicine, and wellness.

  • Feel seen in the complexity of your journey.

Why This Blog Exists

Let’s be real—there’s a lot of information out there about mental health. Some of it is helpful, some of it... is very questionable. Our goal is to cut through the noise and offer thoughtful, inclusive, and clinically sound content that meets you where you are. Think of it like a virtual couch chat—with a touch of science, and a lot of heart.

What You’ll Find Here

We’re focusing our content around four main themes:

  1. Identity: Because your mental health doesn’t exist in a vacuum. We’ll talk about how race, gender, sexuality, faith, neurodiversity, and lived experience shape our mental landscapes. Expect honest reflections, stories, and resources for people who’ve often felt left out of the traditional mental health conversation.

  2. Community: Healing doesn’t happen alone. We’ll explore ways to build and maintain supportive networks, how to show up for others while showing up for yourself, and why community care matters just as much as self-care.

  3. Wellness: No toxic positivity here—just real strategies for feeling more grounded, nourished, and whole. From sleep to nutrition, spiritual practices to breathwork, we’ll offer tools that support mind-body wellness without overwhelming you.

  4. Medicine: Yes, we’re talking science too. We’ll break down psychiatric treatments, new therapies, and evidence-based approaches in ways that feel approachable. Whether you're med-curious, medication-wary, or just looking to understand your options, we’re here for it.

Who This Blog Is For

This space is for:

  • People who are curious about mental health but don’t know where to start.

  • Mental health professionals craving content that honors both clinical excellence and lived experience.

  • Anyone who wants to feel less alone in their healing.

Basically, if you’ve got a brain and a heart, this blog is for you.

About Me (and Why I’m Writing This)

I’m a board-certified psychiatrist trained in addiction and public psychiatry, but I’m also a budding storyteller at heart. I’ve walked with people through crises, deep healing, and slow growth. I’ve learned that the best care isn’t just about treatment plans—it’s about relationships, trust, and feeling understood.

When I’m not working, you can usually find me hanging out with my many nieces and nephews, starting a new book with guilt about the five I’m already reading and unlikely to finish, or debating if my mood is related to my menstrual cycle or the weather.

Writing this blog is part of how I practice hope. It’s my way of offering something steady, real, and maybe even a little joyful—something we all need more of right now.
